Do you know which country in the world has the 'maximum number of breast cancer' victims? Pakistan. According to reports, our country tops the list when it comes to breast cancer and our ladies suffer from this - the most than any other country in the world. According to World Health Organization (WHO), over more than 40,000 women die each year from breast cancer in Pakistan. Under societal pressure, females shy away from receiving treatment for their disease. Mostly the patients of breast cancer  begin receiving treatment when their disease is at an advanced stage which makes it un-treatable. To all the females  please do ensure that you guys get your monthly and annually physical check ups done in order to keep yourself prevented from this. It's not about shying away but it's about taking measures to keep you, your siblings, your family and friends safe. Pakistan has the highest rate of breast cancer victims, so that should be alarming. In 2016, an estimated 246,660 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed, and about 40,450 women are expected to die in 2016.

Breast cancer usually starts off in the inner lining of milk ducts or the lobules that supply them with milk. A malignant tumor can spread to other parts of the body. A breast cancer that started off in the lobules is known as lobular carcinoma, while one that developed from the ducts is called ductal carcinoma.

1 out of 9 women will suffer from Breast Cancer in Pakistan. Over 40,000 women kill every year in Pakistan due to Breast cancer. Pakistan has highest incidence of breast cancer in Asia. This  is an alarming statistic, one which is only growing with time. But it is important to also know that this is a cancer that is curable, one that can be survived!!

Causes of Breast Cancer

One of the major causes for the rising numbers is the taboo attached to it - we don't openly talk about the disease and we must. Also the myths attached to it are just that - myths. No, you do not get breast cancer if you wear a black bra nor is it contagious. Another cause is awareness. We don't educate ourselves about it. It is very important that all women over the age of 20 must self examine (go online and find out how to do it, it's very easy) themselves monthly. Women over the age of 40 must go for a mammogram every 2 years. Early detection can prevent the cancer from spreading. Be aware of your body, the changes that you feel in your body. Take your health seriously. Inform and educate yourselves and pass it forward while you're at it.

Oral Cancer in Pakistan

Oral cancer in Pakistan is increasing dangerously. Among Asian countries, Pakistan has the highest rate of oral and breast cancer. The reasons are, people here remain unaware that paan(betal leaf), sweetened betel nuts or chaalia is addictive and could result in  mouth cancer. 

Facts and figures are quite depressing. Governments need to start awareness campaigns at school and college levels because  youngsters are more addictive to chaalia and other stuff. 

The reputed University of Warwick will be collaborating with Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre to improve the medical facilitation and services for oral cancer patients in Pakistan. Known as one of the deadliest and most common form of cancer in Pakistan, the project will involve digitally scanning slides of human tissue samples from oral cancer patients at the UHCW, and sophisticated computerised image analysis at Warwick, thereby generating a repository of important information about the different types of cancer cells which can be found in oral cancers in the subcontinent which will allow Pakistani patients to receive A-class diagnosis and treatment
