Mirza Asad Ullah Khan Ghalib One of the best and prominent Muslim poets of the Indo-Pak Sub-Continent, Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib, was born in 1796 at Agra. His father Abdullah Beg Khan and uncle Nasrullah Beg Khan were in the army. He received classical Mughal education at Agra with Persian being one of the chief subjects. Ghalib once said that Mulla Abdus Samad Harmuzd was his tutor at Agra. Some writers opine that the tutor is just a myth. If so, then amazingly he seems to be a born genius as there is, indeed, vast knowledge of history, human psychology, ethics and philosophy which is reflected in works of Ghalib’s prose and poetry.
Yeh na thee hamari Qismat K wisaal E yaar hota
Agar aur jeete rahtay, yehi intezaar hota
Agar aur jeete rahtay, yehi intezaar hota
Tere waa’de par jiyee ham to yeh jaan chhooT jana
K khushi se mar na jaate!!! agar intezaar hota
K khushi se mar na jaate!!! agar intezaar hota
Koi mere dil se poochhe, tere teer E neem kash ko
Yeh khalish kahaaN se hoti, jo jigar k paar hota
Yeh khalish kahaaN se hoti, jo jigar k paar hota
Yeh kahaaN ki dosti hai K bane haiN dost naaseh
Koi chaaraa saaz hota koi Ghamghusaar hota
Koi chaaraa saaz hota koi Ghamghusaar hota
KahuN kis se maiN K kya hai shab E Gham buri bala hai
Mujhe kya bura tha marnaa agar aik baar hota
Hue mar K ham jo ruswa hue kyuN ka Gharq E dariya
Na kabhi janazaa uthta na kahiN mazaar hota
Na kabhi janazaa uthta na kahiN mazaar hota
Yeh masaael E tasavvuf, yeh tera bayaan ‘Ghalib’
Tujhe ham wali samajhte Jo na baadaakhaar hota
Tujhe ham wali samajhte Jo na baadaakhaar hota
(Ghalib)
